Blond haired and blue eyed Bess is Nancy's bubbly, loyal best friend and the cousin of George Fayne. She loves fashion and anything pink (or pink...or both). Bess is the more cautious of the two cousins when it comes to dangerous situations, but when the chips are down she comes through. She also has a tendency to fall in love easily. In Shadow at the Water's Edge Nancy and George convince Bess to distract Savannah Woodham's assistant, Logan, so that Nancy will be able to talk to Savannah over the phone.
George Fayne
Brown haired and brown eyed George (short for Georgia) Fayne is the level-headed one of Nancy's best friends, as well as being the cousin of Nancy's other best friend, Bess Marvin. The two cousins couldn't be more different. While Bess loves shopping and fashion, George loves technology and sports. She also loves puzzles, so she's definitely the one to call if you need a hint on how to solve some of the number puzzles in the game. In Shadow at the Water's Edge George is tapped to find out the other commands for Suki the robotic cat because the guy that creates the Virtual Nyao's thinks George is beautiful. ;-)
Savannah Woodham
Savannah is a southern belle and well-known author and former ghost hunter. Due to something that happened while on a hunt, Savannah gave up ghost hunting in favor of being a writer though she no longer write's books about the hauntings she has investigated. One of her chapters in one of her hauntings book was specifically about her experience at the Ryokan Heie.
When Nancy first tries to contact Savannah she has to first go through Savannah's assistant, Logan. It is only after Bess is successful in distracting Logan from his "guard duty" that Nancy is able to initiate a phone conversation with Savannah.
Shimizu Yumi
Yumi is the elder daughter of the late Shimizu (Nagai) Kasumi. She is very independant as evidenced by the fact that as soon as she was of age she left the inn and started her own Bento stand. Miwako and she currently have a very strained relationship because Yumi, traditionally-speaking, should be the one running the inn. Yumi is very good at cooking, loves everything cute...and pink, and designs her own clothing.
When you first meet Yumi she exchanges cell numbers with you so that she can send you some funky pics of her, George, and Bess.
